Traditionally, there are nine colors of poker chips (aluminum or plastic) representing different milestones within the first year of recovery. The white chip represents the probation period of one month. If the member keeps his or her white chip for one month he/she is presented with a red chip for one month of sobriety.
The chips continue with:
- Two months: Blue
- Three months: Black
- Four months: Green
- Five months: Transparent blue
- Six months: Amber
- Nine months: Transparent purple
- One year: Transparent clear
Chips vary in design. Currently, the Cleveland District Office does not sell aluminum or plastic chips. Please see our current selection here.
