Dinner to follow (cash donation)
Sister Mary Ignatia started working with Dr. Bob in 1939 helping admit alcoholics into St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Upon Dr. Bob’s death in 1950, Sister Ignatia transferred to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Cleveland, OH. There, Rosary Hall, an alcoholic Treatment ward was founded, where the Sister worked until her death in April 1, 1966.
Sister Mary Ignatia has been referred to as the “Angel of Mercy” and/or “The Angel of Alcoholics Anonymous” because of her extensive work with Dr. Bob and other alcoholics over a period of 28 years.
This Mass and Dinner has been going on since 1967 to pay tribute to the Sister’s work over the years.
