AMENDMENTS APPROVED AT ADVISORY COMMITTEE OCTOBER 25, 2017

Article V
Operating Committee

(1/24/06) 1(a). Members of the Operating Committee must live or have a home group in the area they represent at the time of their election.

Amendment 7:  Change to:

Members of the Operating Committee must live or have a home group in the area they represent at the time of their election and throughout their service as the Area Representative.

(1/26/87) 2(b). Terms of the Operating Committee shall be numbered and shall conform to the chart as set forth in Article V, paragraph 2(c). Thereafter, Terms 1, 2, 3 and 4 shall continue to expire at the same time; Terms 5, 6, 7 and 8 shall continue to expire one year after Terms 1, 2, 3 and 4. Terms 9, 10 and 11 shall continue to expire two years after Terms 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Amendment 8:  Change to:

2(b). Terms of the Operating Committee shall be numbered corresponding to the Geographical Area represented.  Terms for Areas 9, 10 and 11 shall expire in years evenly divisible by 3.  Terms for Areas 1, 2, 3 and 4 shall expire one year later (years divisible by 3 with a remainder of 1).  Terms for Areas 5, 6, 7 and 8 shall expire two years later (years divisible by 3 with a remainder of 2). This cycle shall repeat in perpetuity.

2(d). The Operating Committee areas of representation shall be designated by zip code as follows:

Amendment 9:

Delete the word Term from zip code list and leave the word Area.  Remove all asterisks (*) from the zip code list. Change from following example:

(3/23/72) 2. In selecting the slate of nominees the Nominating Committee shall explore the availability of the person and his or her willingness to serve, the duration of the person’s membership in Alcoholics Anonymous and his or her overall ability and capacity to carry out the duties and functions that may be required of the members of the Operating Committee. Each nominee must be from the same geographical area as the outgoing member whom he or she is nominated to replace.

Amendment 11:  Change to:

2. Nominating Committee and Elections

1. Prior to the election of any members of the Operating Committee, the Operating Committee shall (3/23/72) appoint a committee equal to the number of members to be elected, said appointees to be members of Alcoholics Anonymous in good standing, other than members of the Operating Committee, who shall serve as a Nominating Committee to draw up a slate of recommended nominees to replace those members of the Operating Committee whose terms are expiring next thereafter.
