Coronavirus Notice

The Cleveland District Office has received a large number of calls asking us what our stance and suggestions are regarding meetings and the COVID-19 virus. In accordance with our 10th tradition “Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues, hence the A.A. name ought never be drawn into public controversy”.

Each group is autonomous and can decide what protocols they want at their meeting through a group conscience decision. The Group should announce what the group protocols are before the meeting starts so there is no confusion or hand holding at the end of the meeting.

Safety

Here are everyday actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses in general, such as colds and the flu:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
• Don’t share food, beverages or smoking devices with others
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick
• Avoid shaking hands
• Stay home when sick
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
• Cough or sneeze into your elbow or sleeve or cover coughs or sneezes with a tissue and throw the tissue directly into the trash

Our office and Literature Department is currently open to the public. Some conditions may apply, such as:

AA Meetings

• To attend face-to-face meetings in your area, please use the Find a Meeting search. Assume all meetings are closed unless it is being held at an AA Club or explicitly denotes it has been reopened in the meeting record with “Re-opened with COVID protocol” or similar verbiage.
• To avoid crowds, there is a growing list of Online Meetings.
